DIY Guitar Pedal: Fuzz Face

Kyle Klem is working on a DIY Guitar Pedal—and might be about to unleash rock music on the Lab. Consisting of three capacitors, four resistors, and two clipping transistors, Kyle’s circuit adds a powerful crunch to any line it’s added to.

In fact, all of that crunch comes from the clipping transistors alone, which “clip” off part of the waveform they process. Most folks would be surprised at the simplicity required to generate the sound of Jimi Hendrix or Alice In Chains. As for what Kyle himself thinks? “Sounds pretty good,” he says.
